Ok Hokie engineers, I need some help making an adapted bed

for my child with special needs.
She has an adapted bed with a side that folds down, but she's getting too heavy to lift in and out every day.
I need a bed that she can't get out of, like a crib, but she's learned to crawl and, at 5 years old, is now able to pull up and stand.
I guess I need it to be low to the ground so she can crawl into and out of the bed.
My current plan is to make a simple full size bed with 4 "walls" (which is kind of what she's got now ) and add/attach a baby gate to a hole in one side, that is low to the ground. Sounds fairly simple...but I may quickly get in over my head.
